The year in movies

In early January, I decided I would track every new film I watched in 2009. I ended up watching a lot of movies — maybe more than in any other year, thanks to a Netflix account that I took great advantage of during the first six months of ‘09. Since July, my movie viewing has tapered off, but I’ve still found some time for a film now and then.

With one day left of 2009, I think my list is pretty much complete. I ended up seeing more than 40 movies for the first time this year, and the titles that appear in bold denote the films I particularly loved:

  • Frost/Nixon
  • Slumdog Millionaire
  • The Reader
  • Waking Life
  • The Aviator
  • He’s Just Not That Into You
  • Waltz With Bashir
  • The Insider
  • Hannah and Her Sisters
  • Kicking and Screaming
  • Vicky Cristina Barcelona
  • Adventureland
  • I Dreamed of Africa
  • Pan’s Labyrinth
  • Open Your Eyes
  • The Class
